We will always offer you a fixed price for the repair, for example if your laptop screen needs replacing we will give you a total price for the work before starting. In the event we need to diagnose the fault first we charge $25.00 labour which is waived if you go ahead with the repair. We don’t want you to have any nasty surprises; we want you to know exactly what your repair will cost before we complete the work.

Offering a personal service is top of our list; you will speak directly to the person working on your computer so you can explain the situation in detail. We turnaround repairs quickly, we don’t send anything away to service centres and we don’t quote 5+ days for repairs. We don’t charge any upfront costs, you only pay for work once it’s completed and when you are happy with it.

We will always take great care in looking after your data. We conform to the Data Protection Act and any data we hold is held in strict confidence. We undertake work for a number of local businesses including solicitors and high street shops and understand how important personal data is. Any customer data that is stored is always stored password protected and in encrypted format. We always advise if possible you take a backup of any data on your computer prior to any work being undertaken and we can discuss any backup options with you if needed.

Data Recovery Questions

If it holds data, we will take it. A list would be too long to compile, but it includes all makes and models of laptops, desktops, hard disk drives, camera systems, SD cards, DVRs, flash devices and voice recorders (mobile devices excluded).

We attempt to save any and all data, including songs, photos, files and more.

Yes, if you provide us with the password.

Our in-store data recovery services are for units that fall under the Level 1-2 scope of work only. We will attempt to recover your deleted photos, music and files from a working drive, or data that was lost because a drive was reformatted. There is a chance your unit will require higher levels of data recovery service and we cannot guarantee your unit will qualify for Level 1 in-store service.

Technically, we need only the physical hard drive or storage media. If the data is on a drive in a computer or other device, schedule a reservation at +1-(832)317-2586 Solidgenesis store and an Agent will remove the hard drive or storage media for you. Also, if you can provide a list of the specific files you are looking for, it will help us ensure we recover what you need, but we can start the recovery without it.

Data recovery is tricky and depends on the exact device that failed and the nature of the failure. The time it takes to recover files can vary as much as the price does.

Once we recover your files, we save them to an appropriate external drive. You can supply your own drive in advance, or we will provide you with one at an additional cost.

You can back up your data on a separate type of media (such as an external hard drive or USB flash drive) or back it up online using cloud storage. Using both provides extra protection. Consider backing up your personal data once a week and backing up business data on a daily basis. Most backup methods allow you to schedule automatic data backups as often as you want.
